UNIX systems engineer (implementation, administration, support)

• Project engineering schedules and forecasts.
• Coordination and checking of engineering deliverables.
• Monthly project status reports and change orders.
• Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting and coordinating the technical and management aspects of projects.
• Accountable for the successful completion of engineering projects.
• Requires extensive regular contact with assigned project Clients.
• Participating in Client/contractor meetings and resolving Client/engineering and management project issues.
• Installing, administration and configuring Unix (AIX, Solaris) and Linux (Red Hat).
• VIO servers and clients installation and configuration using HMC.
• Logical volume management, Unix and Linux.
• Cluster installation and configuration, IBM HACMP, Linux Cluster, Oracle Cluster.
• Good knowledge on NIC redundancy, NIC Bonding, Ether Channeling.
• Technical documentation.
• OS security hardening.
• Red hat Satellite server configuration.
• SAN storage
• Good knowledge in backup software, TSM, Netbackup.

Requirements

• Minimum - Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology/Information Systems/Computer Science, Business IT or other equivalent university degree.
• At least 3 years experience in System Administration and Technical implementation
• Experience in administration of Unix/Linux Servers (AIX, Solaris, Redhat)
• Must have good understanding of a services business in a high tech environment from a supplier, integrator or operator’s point of view.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and achievement oriented.
• Good analytical and problem skills, combined with the ability to provide quick resolution to problems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be customer service oriented and believe in teamwork, collaboration, adaptability and initiative.
