Application Support Analyst (.Net)

Reports to the Applications Solution Architect and has no subordinates


This position is required to provide functional and administrative support as a member of the Digital Technology team. The landscape predominately consists of custom built applications using .NET, MS SQL and Sybase technologies.


  • Ensure that Incident & Requests are being handled within agreed SLA's
  • Construct and execute SQL/Sybase queries for investigation and correcting of issues
  • Troubleshoot/debug application issues at all levels, including database, user interface, business logic, interfaces, file system and web/database server
  • Manage a queue of support issues, based on priority, within ITSM tool Service Now
  • Engage with business users via email, chat, phone, screen-share etc in the provision of support
  • Pro-actively seek effective resolution of issues to the satisfaction of users
  • Identify repeat incidents and suggest improvements to improve the service
  • Engage with technical development teams to communicate requirements for fixes/enhancements that deliver business value
  • Provide an excellent level of customer service in both written and verbal correspondence with business users and technical support teams
  • Provide user training as required
  • Perform unit and regression testing
  • Facilitate user acceptance testing
  • Maintain and build the team knowledge base for Incident and Request resolution
  • Comply to corporate OHS&E policies
  • Challenge the status quo, identify opportunities to stabilise/improve solutions, process and reduce effort or gain greater value from available resources



  • Excellent analytical skills, and an ability to diagnose and resolve issues quickly and effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to articulate and convey information in both technical or non-technical language as required
  • Confident communicating with business users at all levels
  • Ability to work as part of a team, but must be self-reliant and able to work independently
  • Strong T-SQL/Sybase SQL query skills required
  • Web and client applications and database concepts experience desirable, both Java and .NET
  • UI development skills including HTML5, Javascript and JQuery are desirable



  • 2+ years of experience in IT Support
  • Knowledge of .Net Web Applications and DB concepts, MS SQL Server/T-SQL and or Sybase queries, SDLC
  • Experience in delivering IT technical service and process in line with ITIL methodology is highly desirable
  • Experience in HTML, CSS3, JavaScript and jQuery is desirable
  • Exposure to ITSM/Project Management Tools like ServiceNow/Jira is desirable
