Snr Infrastructure Engineer (Storage and Backup)

Reporting to the IT Infrastructure System Operations Manager, the Backup & Storage Consultant main responsibility is to maintain the backup, archive, tape, storage and VMware, DR technologies to ensure continuous availability of the backup/storage to support the business needs within the business environment

Responsibilities

• Assist Infra team to drive backup, archival, tapes, storage and DR technology for adoption into operations.
• Evaluate emerging backup, archive, storage and DR technologies and translate into solutions that solve business problems.
• Develop and recommend storage, backup, archive and DR solutions and strategies, based on the analysis of customer business goals, objectives, needs, and existing storage, backup, archival and DR infrastructure.
• Lead the design, development, maintenance and enhancements related to the backup and storage infrastructure and solutions including SAN, NAS, WAN acceleration, Backup, Archive, storage replication, DR, Cloud backup , etc.
• Design integration of technical functionality (e.g. scalability, security, performance, data recovery, data backup, data retention, data accuracy, reliability, etc.)
• Support design, operation, workflow and issue resolution for the Storage/ Backup/ Archival/ DR infrastructure.
• Build and implement the backup/ archival/ storage/ DR infrastructure as designed.
• Perform maintenance for Backup/ Archival/ Storage/ DR infrastructure.
• Install, configure, setup and maintain backup/ archival/ DR related hardware and software.
• Create documentation and perform internal training/ knowledge transfer Knowledge of ITIL v3 and Intermediate topics is preferred. Certified in ITIL would be a benefit.

REQUIREMENTS

• Degree or Diploma in IT, Computers, Electronics and related subjects
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Creative approach to problem solving.
• At least 5 years of working experience in backup, tape, archive, storage, VMware and DR technologies.
• Professional certification in related backup industry standards or by Backup/Storage vendors
• Experience in storage switches/ directors and enterprise class storage systems, replication, backup and archival products such as EMC, VSAN, etc.
• Technical expertise around storage archiving, tiering, deduplication, backup software, tape libraries, storage & replication protocols, monitoring tools, virtualization and cloud
• Proven experience in planning, designing and building high available and scalable backup/storage infrastructures
• Experience as a storage and backup administrator / storage and backup engineer
• Experience with Intel x86 platform and Storage I/O (HDD, SSD, RAID) hardware, Backup, Archive and Replication technologies and products
• Familiar with object, file and block storage protocols.
• Familiar with Avamar, Networker, DataDomain, endpoint backup solutions.
• Knowledge and experience in enterprise backups, storage virtualization, server virtualization and cloud.
• Assist audit team with artefacts and documents.
• Experience in writing automation scripts related to backup/storage management.
