Network Support Engineer (virtualised computing env)

Our client has POPS in many parts of the world and as such operates one of the largest clouds worldwide.
In Singapore, they operate a centre of excellence (COE) for VIRTUALISED computing to provide support to their global clients.
The virtualisation COE  is responsible for maintaining a high degree of expertise in the virtualized software, hardware and networking infrastructure environment while delivering a number of key product services toward the customers. 
 
SCOPE
  • Support the initial project implementation, transition and operation of the pilot virtualization environment.
  • Drive processes, procedures and established the handover of the support model to various SGS team
  • Support both operational activities and projects for the specific areas.
 
ROLE and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provisioning and configuration of virtualised computing services
    • Level 2 troubleshooting and support
    • Provide change management requests
    • Best Standards and Compliance  Governance
    • Technical point of contact for new installations and deployment
    • User Acceptance Testing with customers Provide presales support to solution team
 
Experienced and intimate knowledge in the following key function area is a must:
  • Knowledge of performance, application and versatility for industry accepted protocols. E.g. RDP, TCP, ICA, IPSEC, etc.
  • Knowledge of functionality and performance of server centric and application deployment. Eg. Citrix, VDI, etc.
  • Managed Infrastructure server environments
  • Administrate Active Directory and GPO's
  • Familiar with access point protocols and appliances
  • Application deployment within a terminal services environment

· Experience in routing and internet protocols, LAN/WAN technologies, VPN, Firewalls, Security, Load balancing ,etc would be an add advantage.
· Must have excellent experience with system / network architecture, troubleshooting nd shell script programming
· Familiarity with the ITIL framework, it’s methodologies and concepts would be a efinite asset
· Familiarity with Oracle DB or other SQL DB and it’s tools would be a definite asset
· Experience with or exposure to large deployments in a telecommunications nvironment as well as dealing with customer issues under time pressure

  • Experience managing Blade server hardware. Eg.IBM H-Series, HP Blade.
