Desktop Support Engineer (inhouse)
Role
To provide front-end IT support for Singapore office
• To provide first level telephony support to users on IT-related problems. (E.g., Laptops, PCs,Printers, Scanners, Plotters and Network Connectivity issue.)
• To provide second level (face-to-face) support to user when the remote management tools and verbal advice are not suitable to resolve the issue.
• To monitor application software, operating systems, hardware and network, and pro-actively informing users regarding the service up-time, availability, recovery and performance.
• To perform logging of requests, providing statistics and assisting with monitoring user satisfaction
• To install and change control of user terminals, defined software for Laptops and PCs, and other user devices like Printers, Scanners or communications devices.
• To provide a local service point to users where they can obtain immediate service (eg.). Log the request and ensure that the standby laptop or PC is available.
• To provide IT related consumables to users (eg. Cartridges, diskettes, etc).
• To update anti-virus data file on scheduled basis.
• To assist in project implementations on desktop, LAN or laptop update or upgrade needs and system test.
Key Requirements
• Diploma in IT or related area or better qualification with atleast 3 years of experience.
The individual will need to have the following core skills and experience:
• Must be conversant with Microsoft Technologies (ADS, WIN2K & XP)
• Must be conversant with Microsoft Messaging (Exchange, SMTP/POP3 Mail Systems)
• Must be conversant with Remote Infrastructure Management. Familiarity in using SMS,PC Anywhere and Terminal Servers etc. would be helpful.
• Must be conversant with Network Setup under Win NT and Win 2000,
• Must be conversant with Trouble shooting on Windows based O.S.,
• Must be conversant with Installation and administration of MAIL, DNS, Router, Switch, Firewall and VPN configuration
