Job Description Research Associate, Asia Pacific (APAC) Markets – Gas & LNG We are looking for a Research Associate to join Wood Mackenzie’s Asia Pacific Gas & LNG Markets Research team. Our team provides industry-leading fundamentals analysis and commercially relevant insights covering the Asia Pacific natural gas and LNG markets. This analytical role in the APAC gas markets team is pivotal to the success of the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering in-depth, high quality Gas Market analysis, including working with the Upstream team to forecast supply, supply-demand balancing and regional gas market analysis. This role will also be a key user of Wood Mackenzie’s proprietary gas forecasting model and contribute significantly to the team’s long-term gas forecasts. The role holder will collaborate with the team to publish written reports and presentations for clients. About The Role Joining a team of gas and LNG analysts in the region, you will quickly contribute to our gas research. You will be the primary author for market reports and deeper fundamentals analysis for a specific focus region, e.g. Indonesia, Malaysia, China etc and will support the integrated markets update process for Asia Pacific and Global Commodities teams. You will work with other gas, power and upstream analysts on a variety of topics and create innovative reports to help visualize our data sets and interpret modelling results to communicate our views to clients. Along the way you will develop an understanding of your specific markets and their potential. To do this, you will be a key user of Wood Mackenzie’s proprietary gas forecasting model. You will be a contributor to the update of our global gas outlook and support in developing our narrative for the APAC region. You will be comfortable articulating the supply and demand views and the broader short-term and long-term global gas outlook to clients and prospects. Through research trips, client interactions and industry events you will build your network to understand the key topics and challenges in the industry. You will address these in your contribution to our regular deliverables and through development of specific informs, the quarterly short-term outlook, insights and webinars. Qualifications About you and how you can excel in this role The Following Qualities Would Be Advantageous For Any Potential Candidate The role is ideal for someone who is passionate about the gas industry and wants to be a recognized expert internally and externally. You have an analytical mind and an eye for detail, but can still translate your findings into clear coherent messages for a variety of audiences. You will have experience working with statistical models including Excel and large data sets. Data visualization will be essential to deliver success in the role. A collaborative attitude and a desire to develop or expand gas market knowledge are also critical. You have good planning and organization skills with the ability to manage your own workload. You are pro-active and can deliver tangible improvements to processes and products. You have fostered strong working relationships, developed networks and have experience in influencing others.
