This position represents an opportunity to join our dynamic company and become an integral part of a talented team transforming the technology landscape. The VMware Solution Engineer plays an important role in building and sustaining customer relationships, while driving the adoption of our solutions to achieve our revenue goals. The SE works very closely with sales to build long-term business relationships within assigned “named” accounts. The SE is a high-impact, highly visible role responsible for ensuring pervasive enterprise adoption of VMware software and solutions and closing enterprise transactions within assigned accounts in the region. Responsibilities Work closely with assigned Territory Account Manager and supporting specialists to collaborate on customer solutions . Proficient in enterprise solution selling that includes products, services, and support related to modernizing applications, enabling multi-cloud datacentres, virtual cloud networking, digital workspaces, and intrinsic security Understand the customer's high-level IT objectives, and match VMware solutions as necessary to achieve customer's business and technical requirements. Build relationships within the assign customer territory and become a trusted adviser Continuously develop and expand the knowledge of the customer mission and take the initiative in creating solutions that address customer’s needs using the VMware portfolio along with third-party solutions as appropriate. Develop and deliver responses to customer and prospect technical inquiries, including RFPs, RFIs, and initial architecture discussions Provide evaluations and proof-of-concept assistance to partners and customers Participate and facilitate in-depth demonstration of product functions and features to customers SEs constantly seek to expand their technical expertise and knowledge of VMware technologies, industry direction and trends, and competitor’s solutions via enablement and internal training offerings As a group, SEs communicate and collaborate with their peers and colleagues on trends, product feedback, customer success, etc. Qualifications We are seeking an enthusiastic self-starter, comfortable working both independently and in a team setting. You have been in the information technology industry and possess relevant technical experience, with preference for technical sales or customer-facing consulting experience. You have significant industry knowledge and experience in areas such as Software Defined Data Center (SDDC), Software Defined Networking (SDN), Software Defined Storage (SDS), Hyper converged Infrastructure (HCI), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Cloud Native application platforms/development, infrastructure security, but what really sets you apart is your expertise in cloud enterprise applications, systems security, cloud or systems management, and business continuity. Your strong customer facing and relationship building skills, coupled with your listening and questions-based selling skills help you see the “big picture” and develop innovative solutions to solve customer’s challenges. You have the ability to build and present high-quality product demonstrations to both technical and executive audiences Degree, Master/Bachelor in Information Systems, Computer Sciences or advanced industry certification in Virtualization, Storage, Networking, Applications, Cloud desirable and strongly preferred. Knowledge of next generation application & cloud platforms e.g. Containers, Kubernetes, Tanzu, Amazon Web Services, IBM Softlayer, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, etc. is a huge plus. 3 to 8 years of Specialist or related IT experience Working knowledge of varying vendor, partner and distribution support and value models.
