Infrastructure Architect at Control Risks

Job Description

Work with the complex systems infrastructure and make modifications based on their analysis of technical requirements
Develop and organize cloud systems - activities to include cloud adoption planning, managing cloud resource usage and scalability, cloud monitoring, container technology, and cloud privacy and security
Complete detail analysis of infrastructure design and security standards.
Design and implement information systems to support the enterprise infrastructure.
Working in coordination with the enterprise-wide stakeholders in alignment IT needs and requirements
Architect and lead the design/implementation of a robust, secure and scalable network as it relates to enterprise infrastructure
Assist in maintaining, configuring, installing and testing network architecture, design, hardware, and software; Includes but not limited to routers, switches, and firewalls
Assist in monitoring, collecting and preparing statistical data for analysis on security monitoring, network performance, and availability (monitoring of network device logs, monitoring of port statistics)
Where necessary, provide guidance support and for rearchitecting infrastructure configurations based on industry best practice approaches
Lead the design and support the implementation of infrastructure hardening tasks
Perform day to day administration and operational functions of the infrastructure environment (depending upon the project assignment)
Responsible for day-to-day level 3 problem troubleshooting and resolution of the networking environment (properly escalating problems when the need arises)
Make recommendations for changes when required such as additional firewall rules and ensures the relevant testing and CAB entry has been carried out and approved.
Regularly review capacity of the network and raise recommendations for dealing with issues before they impact the business.
Project management of IT-related projects and provide input into the overall direction of the network and security and architecture.
Recommend and execute modifications to the existing network design to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
Escalates incidents and problems to the Service Delivery Manager when required and ensures a resolution is applied promptly.
Participates in disaster recovery testing and rehearsals.



Minimum 5 years of experience in technical support roles including networking or Infrastructure
The IT Infrastructure Architect must be a strong leader and communicator with exceptional analytic and problem solving skills.
Experience from large scale global enterprise organizations
Experience with the planning and communicating the enterprise infrastructure Roadmap - include details with Azure/AWS, Servers, Operating Systems, Capacity, Desktop Architecture, Alert Monitoring, Problem Determination, Incident Management, Backup/Recovery
Strong collaborator and leader with exceptional communications skills
ITIL framework and best practices
Web technologies (devices, servers, cloud instances, and networking protocols that enable applications and data) experience to include building an enterprise architecture
Strong experience in designing, integrating and managing complex infrastructure solutions.
Planning and supporting processes and adhering to best practices
services, including reporting and auditing of Active Directory objects
Knowledge of penetration testing methodologies
Knowledge of Intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS/WAF) and vulnerability assessment tools
Extensive switching, routing and firewall experience
Experience in producing implementation documents (e.g. new office setup)
Extensive VPN and Global network routing implementation and support
Project Management and architectural understanding
Knowledge of cloud services and BYOD
Knowledge of Information security compliance standards (ISO27001)

Qualifications and specialist skills

ITIL Version 3 foundation level or above desirable
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong documentation skills
Organized, methodical and self-motivated
Ability to visualise and analyse problems affecting multiple systems/locations
Keeping abreast of industry trends and new technologies
Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) concepts
Experience supporting network Technologies such as LAN switching/Routing, Firewalls and/or Load Balancers
Windows Servers and Protocols experience such as DNS, DHCP, DFS, NTFS


Takes the initiative to proactively resolve issues within own remit and recognises when escalation is required
Uses own knowledge and experience to make sounds judgements or assist others with sound judgements
Considers the regional and global implications of what we do in our own areas of responsibility
Identifies and builds relationships across team and region
Understands need to work within project scope, including price
Shows understanding of others in order to influence as appropriate
