Network Planning & Implementation Engineer (AsiaPac) - 3 posts

An engineering/technical position supporting our client’s Asiapac network working closely with our client's regional and global network operational functions within the region and in the UK, Europe and the US. Key focus on delivering excellent customer service to the largest users of telecoms services around the world.

Main Responsibilities
Reporting to Team Leader Operations

Installation and commissioning of our client's network equipment across Asiapac.
Testing & implementation of Layer 1, 2 & 3 services.
Operation & maintenance of network and transmission equipment
Conduct 2nd level troubleshooting on network and transmission equipment
Maintaining a close operational relationship with vendors and 3rd party network suppliers in Asiapac
Particular focus on Cisco based MPLS, Ciena/Turin Transmission, Juniper IP, Alcatel NGN & Nextone VOIP

Requirements
You would have gained the necessary Engineering and Technical skills and competencies developed in technical support and engineering environments over a period of several years including but not limited to :.

Tertiary level qualifications or higher in Electronics/Electrical Engineering are required.
At least 5 years experience in the telecom industry with focus on Layer 1, 2 and 3 technologies.
Customer oriented, good initiative, self-motivated and able to work independently with minimum supervisions.
Professional certifications from Cisco/Juniper/Nextone/Ciena
DWDM/NGN experience a distinct advantage
Must be able to work flexible hours, subject to 24 x 7 call-out roster and also available to travel within Asia region.

Skills and Competencies
The Network Engineer must be able to demonstrate self-confidence and a self-motivated level of interest in technology and equipment knowledge.
You possess good inter-personal and communication skill and you must have fluent spoken and written skills in English and any additional languages would be viewed favourably.
You are able to plan, organise, co-ordinate and control work. Must also be adaptable, highly self-motivated and goal-orientated. Must have a willingness to learn new technologies and seek out both standard and innovative solution opportunities with customers/suppliers.
You are able to demonstrate knowledge of the telecommunications industry and it’s operating regulatory and technical environment.
An individual, who works as part of a focused team, taking the lead when required. Recognises that resources are deployed against business priorities and manages accordingly.
