Systems Specialist (Data Centre, Wintel/UNIX)
Position Summary:
• Analyse, design, implement and review the system infrastructure based on business requirements to ensure cost-effective and resilient delivery of IT services to the customers
Job Responsibilities:
1. Perform system administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, patch-management, accounts administration, upgrades to ensure optimal and effective hosting of IT services to the customer
2. Perform security hardening, performance tuning, optimization and load testing of application servers
3. Develop standard operating procedures for server maintenance and monitoring to provide the technical support team the ability to help provide 24x7 system availability
4. Measure and establish the server baseline to identify non-conformance activities and trend-analysis
5. Plan, design and implement server capacity management to manage resources in times of crisis and predict the need for additional capacity proactively so as to support the growth of the company
6. Work with network engineer, DBAs, software developers and vendors for all hardware, OSes, databases, network related projects and issues
7. Analyse and Report on trends to provide basis of capacity and availability planning
8. Analyse and lead the process of problem management by diagnosing the occurrence of server and storage infrastructure and then rectify the underlying problems so as to prevent them in the future, which adversely affects the business process, workflow and user productivity
9. Provide training and 3rd level support to other operations/support team
Education:
• Diploma or Degree
• MCSE/ACP, UNIX related certification
Experience:
• Min 5 years working experience in system implementation and administration
• Experience in Windows Operating System especially in Active Directory, Group Policies, , PKI, DNS, etc
• Experience in Unix OS (Linux, HP-UX, Solaris) system administration, clustering, perl and shell scripting
• Knowledge of Web technologies, Java, ASP, HTM, XML
• Experience in System Monitoring (NetIQ) and Patch management tools (e.g Altiris, SUS)
• Experience in technical project management and demonstrated ability to take a project through all phases of implementation as well as post-implementation follow-up is highly desirable
Knowledge:
• Knowledge in end to end performance monitoring, disaster recovery plan, business continuity plan
• Solid knowledge in computer operation system and network system
Skills:
• Expert in design, implementation and maintenance of Microsoft and Unix Solution
• Expert in design, implementation and maintenance of Infrastructure Solution
• Expert in design, implementation and maintenance of Data Center System
