Regional Technical Support Engineer (network, server, desktop)

This position requires a dynamic individual who possess competence supporting the day-to-day IT issues of an US MNC in Singapore.

The incumbent will be actively involved with end-user IT support at the desktop, network, and server level. At times, he/she will be required to work in tandem with IT teams from various parts of the world resolve critical support issues.

Job Responsiblities

Deploy new desktops/laptops, and servers
Resolve IT problem tickets assigned by helpdesk
Provide support for remote IT teams from US, UK, and Australia
Provide user access service requests and user ID creation
Provide telephone support to remote users when required
Perform backup for servers and troubleshoot backup issues
Assist with the relocation of servers and setup of a new data centre

Essential skill sets
able to communicate in both English and Mandarin
Strong working knowledge of operating systems on WINNT/WIN2K/WINXP/WIN2K3
Must have experience supporting common desktop applications such as MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, MS Exchange, Lotus Notes, Blackberry.
Working knowledge of VMWare ESX servers
Working knowledge of operating Veritas/Symantec Backup software
Good understanding of TCP/IP, VPN and exposure to Cisco devices

Preferred Experience/ Skillset
Possess communication and interpersonal skills to effectively deal with difficult situations
Working experience in a dynamic and heavily regulated industry such as Banking, Bio-Medical is advantageous.
Basic knowledge on OpenVMS platform would be advantageous.
Able to work independently with minimum supervision
